me, bey and zapir went to naim's family's house in bukit mahkota last sunday to visit them. kaled majuk so he didn't go.

if there ever was an event that can rightly upstage the legendary 2004 MPA, this is definitely it. history was created this time around with the alumni focusing their contributions on a more open centre-stage. our aim of raising funds for the aceh orphanage was succesfully met, alhamdulillah. and in doing so, we also managed to introduce PaLS to the wider public. this is the strongest testament yet of PaLS as a society that promotes welfare and charity to those in need.

last sunday...ermm, make that last last last sunday  our good friend najidah dikahwinkan dgn khomeini bin abu. actually i know the groom..he was a senior in my faculty-cum-head JKM at college. as the story goes..khomeini nih research assistant for ustaz selamat (ajid's dad). so ustaz selamat la yg matchmaking derang berdue. ok ape, kampung dua2 dekat heheh. takyah gadoh time raya nnt. 
my friends and i all datang ke walimah utk meraikan kedua pasangan pengantin. met a lot of PMI friends there...!  tertarik plak dgn akhawat PMI yg bertudung labuh, lembut dan sopan santun je gayanye hehe. ermm kat sana also met up with our Mak Datin inc. (TM)...rasa macam majlis reunion kat tengah2 majlis kenduri kawen orang haha.

an extraordinary friendship

my mate naim
|

|
naim and i first knew each other when we were six years of age. i envied him at the time because, having his house next to sekolah hidayah, he gets to skip tadika iman and went straight to standard 1..the lucky bugger. naim gave me my first chickenpox after a terrific rolling session together down bukit balai cerap in UTM. years later i came back from england only to see him again, complete with huge specs and curly mullet and all! we grew up together in SMIH, even vying for the same crush. among our secret vices: occasionally breaking into ERT room at nights to watch footie and VCD's hehe. at 2.30 naim would wake me up (he's a light sleeper) and i'd then take over the lock picking job. pernah sekali me him and kaled went to an education fair in KL, lewat balik sampai miss monday's classes. ustazah azimah aptly nicknamed us the 3 abduls after that incident. i served alongside him in briged PRS and BPP...u can find us often plotting the next anarchical student rally heheh. i stood by him in defiance as we voiced out at the school administration over the unjust treatment of one of our juniors. we stood again side by side, crying "reformasi!" at the GMI and MTUC rally in KL a few years later. that was our first reformasi experience.
together we've gone down water slides at a'famosa waterworld and vomitted on pirate ships at sunway lagoon, scaled the summit of gunung ledang and got lost in the thick forests of gunung pulai. together we've roamed along the beautiful east malaysian coast - reaching pahang, terengganu and kelantan. together we've stepped on the beaches of pulau sibu, tanjung leman, sedili and batu layar. together we've done so much.
i was there when naim's kancil ran out of gas and we had to roll it down the greenwood exit to shell petrol station. he was there when the motorbike i borrowed got tayar pancit and we had to carry it to the workshop for a replacement tube. i was there when his kancil skipped a traffic light right in the middle of KL, siap kantoi kena flash lagi ehe. oh yeah not to mention him and khalid engaged in a little arson-related activity involving botol air, petrol and a whole lot of niat buruk bile tengah isi minyak kat greenwood.
him and i have discussed the future of the alumni many a time with ustazah kamaliah. not only that, but our class reunion was held at his house, with makcik fauzaniyah sponsoring the food (pizza and nuggets..yum!). he accompanied me sitting at the VIP table during malam penghargaan alumni dulu. kami da biasa tido sekatil. makan sepinggan. duduk sekerusi. i enjoyed playing with his brothers amin and aiman (both now ardent liverpool supporters bcoz of naim) at their house in uptown. i lurv feasting on his mum's delicious nasi lemak ayam in the mornings...sedap!
he stayed at my room in UTM during PPN JIM 2004. grown ups punye prog dia memang suke pegi. i'm alwez the blur one, naim's fikrah was alwez so clear. he began reading hassan al-banna in form 3, while the rest of us were playing with tamiya and proyo. i'm the emotional one, he prioritized rationality. i taught him to groom, he taught me humility. i taught him to play football, he taught me the rules of formula1. he's a mad liverpool supporter, i'm a newcastle fanatic...but at least we have michael owen in common. he once borrowed my treasured NUFC shirt without asking...just to go out with kak ayu and ustazah norzila. the cheek! another time he borrowed my nike michigan jersey (after asking) but broke one of the buttons...i extorted RM20 off him as a compensation. he once used my house phone to gayut, but got kantoi by my dad! he has picked me up at puduraya at 4.30 in the mornings, i've done the same to him at sri putri. my boys and i dah pernah mandi at the swimming pool in naim's condo apartment. tapi kena halau dek pak guard.
during a konfrontasi session in form 5, naim chose not to comment on anything or anyone. for that, kaled labelled him an emotionless robot. and we boys all agreed! mane taknye...he was once pow-ed by a couple of indian goons and never cared less about it. in courtship, he was rejected more than once and alwez chose to look at the positives. i've never seen him cry or fight, and very very rarely does he get angry. yet despite all that, he's the only one brave enough to hold demonstrations at masjid negara, raising banners and shouting "Allahuakbar!" in front of the media. emotionless naim may be, but i prefer to think of him as calm, composed and alwez in control. and that is the hallmark of a great leader.
he has this sabre-toothed smile so mischievous-looking that it melts the heart of girls everywhere. he has the charm to knock the pants off even guys. he's just cool in his own darn way. and i can attest that, when we tease his eccentric and weird style, deep-down...well, we all wanna be like him really.
naim is the first among us boys in a lot of things. he's the first to get a driving licence. he's the first to buy a digicam (jakon gile mase tuh). he's the first to graduate with a degree. he's the first to buy himself a new car (cute proton savvy). and he's the first among us to get married...
i was one of the first he confided in about ukhti nusaibah. the news of him getting married is one that is met with joy and happiness among us all. but amidst the cheer and laughs, i can't help but feel a huge loss inside. just promise that we'll stay friends forever.

walaupun coretan kali ni dah lapuk ketinggalan zaman sbb berlaku jauh dua bulan yg lalu, namun kenangan yg tersemat di hati tidak bisa kulupakan. jalinan ukhuwwah amat kurasai. dua peristiwa yg sangat berbeza natur-nya tetapi kedua itu sama mampu menyemarakkan semangat ukhuwwah fillah dalam diri.
perhimpunan karisma nasional. met a host of old and new friends. proud to see so many hidayah-ians active in the karisma scene. congrats naim, the new KnL president...popular, leader, cool and affable, yet so humble. u go bro! 
rehlah bersama ikhwah UTM ke tanjung resang. one of the best vacations i've had this year (which ain't saying much since it's only january but whut the heck). footie, sands, food and the sun..what more could one ask for?

an eventful and fun-filled day it has been for my friends and i when we attended hana' and mazri's walimah at felda bukit tongkat, kluang. it was laughter and wackiness all the way, what with zakri, salman, arjun and khairul as my ride mates! and oh, beware...effa is starting to display both her motherly traits: kind and caring one minute, shockingly ganas the next! hehe  . sayang, baby alya madiha demam and so kena stay wif her grandparents. far's giggles suggested i'm not too lucky with babies. hmm...
zakri's iswara got busted tgh perjalanan which delayed us for a while. temperature naik and so we stopped...salman had the complete audacity to bukak the radiator top (mendalah masih panas tu!) pastu apa lg, memancut air panas ke merata tempat sampai melecur kepala dia heheheh. sape suro. gatal.
amik kerol and met up with maryam khalid at tol ayer hitam. maryam came wif her sisters, two gruesome looking guys (suami kot, kehkeh) and a kawaaiii baby. 
the map to rumah pengantin lelaki was more difficult than FIFA 2006...who says only women can't read maps? 
arrived at last kat umah pengantin (after a record 19 wrong turns). puas kena perli dek makcik effa dan suami. heehe a chilling reminiscence of ziarah effa sblm dia kawen.
happy to finally meet hana' and mazri at last. they look good together. ada comei, hehe. anyways i looked around hoping to see familiar faces among the guests tp nampaknya poknik and co. tade. hana' says they all da pegi hok penang punye so it's all good lar.
aaa jupe gak abg manaf (ex-senior iqra') turns out he was classmates with mazri. small world heheh. and then golden couple makcik hani came with hubby saiful islam...terus dia salam dan peluk pengantin lelaki! turns out derang kenal each other from MISG america. heheh really small world.
setelah puas amik gambo...wei amanah la, org yg suro la...it's time we parted ways. amik gambo sikit lagi utk sampai bebetul naik muak dan pengantin pun terpaksa layan hok tetamu lain kehkeh akhirnya kami pulang ke JB. it was fun, guys. let's do this again...who's next?
ps: my batch nyer gurls yg da kawen entitles them to a "makcik" prefix depan nama huhu.
